    How Zaubern Works

Zaubern is built around a simple doctrine: probabilistic systems may reason, but only deterministic systems may decide. It separates reasoning from authority so those jobs do not get mixed.

The core idea: Separation of Cognition and Authority

Zaubern treats AI reasoning as proposal, not authority. A model can generate intent, suggest a next action, or interpret a case. That does not mean the model gets to decide.

The decision boundary is governed through deterministic authority artifacts that evaluate what is allowed under explicit constraints.

The path from intent to governed action

    • AI generates intent
    • the proposal is normalized into deterministic form
    • deterministic governance artifacts evaluate what is allowed
    • the outcome stays tied to evidence and replayability

    What SLM means

In Zaubern, SLM means Symbolic Logic Model. It does not mean small language model.

A Symbolic Logic Model is a deterministic, non-neural, independently executable artifact used for governed decision control. The point is not to shrink the model. The point is to make authority legible, constrained, and replayable.

Terminology note: the canonical public definition lives at /slm-symbolic-logic-model.

Why this is different from observability and rules

Observability helps teams inspect events after they happen. Rule engines execute logic that humans write ahead of time. Zaubern is aimed at the harder boundary where AI reasoning has to be translated into deterministic control with stronger evidence and replay requirements.

    Why this matters in practice

This architecture becomes useful when the same decision has to make sense to technical evaluators, security teams, legal, compliance, and procurement.

Zaubern is built around that level of scrutiny.

    Why this page exists

This is a pillar page. Its job is to give the category and proof story a stable destination for search, internal linking, and buyer education.

    Category clarity

We can help separate runtime authorization, observability, and policy process from the actual decision execution problem.

    Pilot scoping

The best first conversation is usually one workflow where allow, block, escalate, and replay all matter.

    Cross-functional review

Product, security, legal, and procurement can use the same conversation if the proof boundary needs to be clear early.
